10 Ways To Become a Better Person

Set the goal of being a little better today than you were yesterday.

Make the commitment to be better every day by having better thoughts, making better decisions, and taking better actions.

As long as you are a better person , the best people, life situations and opportunities will be attracted to your life.

Below you will find 10 goals to become a better person.

1- Choose yourself
Whatever you want to achieve or succeed , stop waiting for someone else to choose you. Instead, choose yourself. Here are four examples:

If you want to be a writer, stop waiting for a publisher to accept your manuscript. Instead, publish it yourself.

If you want to make more money, stop waiting for your company to raise your salary . Instead, create an additional source of income in your free time.

If you want a better education, stop waiting for the people who work in the admissions of the universities to accept you. Instead, create your own resume and learn what you need from books, seminars, and online courses.

If you want to be an actress but you are not being selected in any movie , write your own script and give yourself the lead role.

2- Start a business
Starting a business will do many good things for you:

It will teach you to generate ideas, test those ideas, and execute them.

It will give you problem solving skills .
It will teach you marketing and sales skills .

3- Travel the world
When you travel you gain new experiences , you learn about different cultures and you receive a sample of the different lifestyles.

Additionally, you can try exotic food , listen to different musical genres, and see different art forms.

At least, you'll be more interesting and you'll have better stories to tell.

4- Do something artistic
Take an art class, learn how to make vases , or learn how to make jewelry.

Making art is a form of self expression , and can even be a healer. There are few things that are as satisfying and life-affirming as creating something new with your own hands.

5- Volunteering
True happiness comes from giving and doing something for others .

The voluntary organizations always need more help. Find a cause that is close to your heart - child hunger, domestic violence, animal cruelty, and so on - and volunteer as a counselor.

6- Develop your character
Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States - devised a list of 13 virtues he wanted to develop.

He also developed a method to acquire those virtues . Here is what I would do:

He would dedicate a week to each virtue, and observe and monitor his behavior to make sure he was aligned with the virtue of that week.

If he felt he had committed a fault related to the virtue of that week, he would make a small black mark in a book that he would keep with him all the time.

His goal was to spend the whole week without having to make any black mark in his book.

You can follow a similar method to develop your own character . What virtues would you like to develop?

7- Take an improved class
Taking an improved class will teach you to think faster and better on the fly.

Knowing how to keep a conversation going can help you win an appointment, a job, or close a deal.

8- Dominate a game
Mastering a game - such as chess or monopoly - teaches you strategy, teaches you to compete, and teaches you flexibility and adaptation.

Additionally, you learn to master your emotions - playing chess against a worthwhile opponent can be mental torture.

It also teaches you to lose - which is something you need to know how to do if you want to win.

9- Master a sport
Mastering a sport teaches you everything you've learned by mastering a game, but it also gives you a physical workout. Also, there is not a sport that can hurt you, unless you choose an extreme one, but everything remains in your decision.

10- Be more kind
A few days ago I saw a sentence written on the Internet that read as follows: "If you want to be loved, be kind"

The phrase was accredited to a Roman poet named Ovid. We all want to be loved, so, how do you become a kinder person? Here are some ideas so you can start:

Give others a compliment
Motivate others to go behind their dreams .
If you must criticize, do it gently and compassionately .
Be kind.
